The past few days at the Beach

The weather has been lovely here in Jaco. Some sun, cooler then normal and rain showers in the evenings...just lovely. We've been having toucans visiting nearly everyday for the past 10 days. They seem to be liking the ylang ylang tree, as it has many berries/seeds right now. It has been a treat trying to get pictures of them. Still haven't gotten the perfect shot yet, but I tried! :)

Went for a walk up the mountain the other day with some wonderful guests, and besides seeing the beautiful views of Jaco beach and the mountains, we also saw a large Morpho Blue Butterfly. Sadly I wasn't fast enough with my camera to get a picture.

We have been having some wonderful sunsets as well...

Friday is Farmers Market Day in Jaco

Jaco in the Tropical Storm Tomas

Flowers are still in bloom
So, Costa Rica has been effected by HurricaneTomas, we have had intense flooding in and around Parrita & Quepos, mudslides all over (the most damaging one in San Antonio of Escazu) bridges washed out and many roads closed. Here in Jaco there has been some flooding, one of our large grocery stores has been closed for 2 days due to flooding. It has been raining for the past 5 days almost non-stop with chilly off shore winds, the ocean is a cafe con leche brown color and there are quite a bit of debris from the rivers, mainly all natural. With all that though Jaco still had it's Friday Farmer's Market. Although not as many booths as normal, only about 5, the farmers still came out with there beautiful fresh produce, cheese, chicken and clothes but there was not any fruit this time though.
While at the market 2 pairs of scarlet macaws flew over head. Lets hope it is a sign that the sun will come out soon! :) We could use some drying weather!
